The Constitution of Paraguay (1992) at Art. 4, "The Right to life," states in part: "The death penalty is abolished."
Paraguay has been abolitionist since 1992, and the last execution dates to 1928.
On December 19, 2016, Paraguay co-sponsored and voted again in favour of the Resolution on a Moratorium on the Use of the Death Penalty at the UN General Assembly.
