The Constitution of the Republic of Marshall Islands (1979) under Section 6(1) states

The Constitution of the Republic of Marshall Islands (1979) under Section 6(1) states: "No crime under the law of the Republic of Marshall Islands may be punished by death."
No execution has been carried out since independence was declared on October 21, 1986.
On December 19, 2016, the Marshall Islands voted again in favour of the Resolution on a Moratorium on the Use of the Death Penalty at the UN General Assembly, but did not co-sponsored the text.
