the Criminal Court in Kuwait City, Kuwait, sentenced an Iranian man, identified only as Hussein R., in absentia to capital punishment for bringing heroin into the country for trafficking and consuming it. The court however, acquitted another man of the same charge. Case papers indicate the arresting officer, acting on information that Hussein possessed heroin for trafficking and consuming, raided his home in Salmiya and seized plastic sachets filled with heroin. The officer also found a scale used to weigh heroin.
During interrogation Hussein admitted to consuming and trafficking in heroin and narcotics. He added he got the drugs from an Iranian woman, identified only as M. J., who he said, brought the drugs from Iran. The officer arrested the second accused, who denied the charge and said she had no idea about the drugs. In court, the woman denied the charge while Hussein failed to appear in court. The session was presided by Judge Abdullah Al-Sane.
