The former head of the Zhongguancun branch of Beijing Urban Co-operative Bank, Huo Haiyin, 45, was sentenced to death by a Beijing court for corruption and misappropriation of public funds. According to a report in the Beijing Evening News, Huo was sentenced by Beijing No 1 Intermediate People's Court for embezzling 70 million yuan and misappropriating another 1.06 billion yuan between November 1991 to December 1997 when he was manager of the bank.
