The government welcomed Turkey's decision to postpone the hanging of Abdullah Ocalan, the leader of the PKK( the Kurdistan Workers' Party). Government spokesman Dimitris Reppas described the Turkish move as a "correct decision," and said that Greece had opposed the PKK leader's execution from the time of his trial.
