The Indonesian police investigation chief Made Mangku Pastika said that the Perpetrators of the Bali bombing would not be found innocent when they faced judgment in February 2003. The three would face charges which carried the death penalty. "Our evidence is very strong so there's no way there will be innocence, we have evidence that will be very, very strong," Pastika said after meeting with Australian Justice Minister Chris Ellison. Senator Ellison said Australia was ready to assist in the trial, despite the fact that prosecutors would ask for the death penalty, a punishment the country is opposed to. "What is required here is for Australia to do what it can," he said, adding that Australia's opposition to the death penalty was not relevant.
