The Jordan Times reported that a 20-year-old man was sentenced to death by the Criminal Court after being convicted of the premeditated murder of a barbershop owner in Hashemi Shamali in 2001. Rashad Walid was standing trial for murdering Mohammad Ahmad and for attempting to murder Khader Abed in a barbershop in the Amman neighborhood on October 7, 2002. The court alleged that the defendant and the victim had been feuding for some time and that on the day of the murder Walid went to the victim's shop and drew an unlicensed gun.
