The Justice Ministry declared that the government pardoned 122 prisoners. "The government has decided to pardon leading businessmen, officials, foreign workers and other criminals to encourage them to participate in developing the country with the term of the incumbent government coming to an end," a statement read. Four criminals sentenced to death for capital crimes had their sentences commuted to life imprisonment as they had shown remorse for their crimes, the ministry said.
