The suspension of the execution of Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan was received with a sigh of relief in Germany. Government circles in Berlin stated that the Turkish government's decision was seen as a positive sign. Claudia Roth, human rights expert of the Alliance 90/Greens Bundestag group, said that the Turkish government's decision was a "correct and necessary signal". By executing the death sentence, Turkey would destroy the conditions for the necessary dialogue with the Kurdish side, Roth stated.
