Three Iranians, convicted of murder, were sent to the gallows at the Tehran Qasr Prison, while the fourth was pardoned while the noose was on his neck.
The public relations department of the Tehran Justice Department said that the executions were carried out after the Supreme Court upheld the death sentences handed down by a criminal court.
It did not identify those executed. The fourth convict was spared from hanging after being pardoned by the family of the victim.
According to the Islamic Shari'ah law, murderers could be spared from Qisas or law of retribution upon the pardon of the victim's family.
