Top leaders of the ruling Awami League demanded the quick execution of the death sentences awarded to all the 15 convicts for killing Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members. "The nation hopes that the death sentences awarded by the Session Judge will be confirmed by the vacation bench during the ongoing vacation of the Supreme Court", said Foreign Minister Abdus Samad Azad while presiding over a protest meeting at Paltan Maidan. The meeting was held as part of country-wide demonstrations against the split judgment delivered by a High Court bench on the death reference in the Bangabandhu murder case.
