TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO: DEATH SENTENCE UPHELD

Chief Justice Ivor Archie of the Trinidad & Tobago Court of Appeal rejected the appeal of Marlon Taitt against his death sentence. Justice Herbert Volney in the Port-of-Spain First Criminal Court found him and Ijah Braithwaite guilty on May 9, 2008, of murdering Anthony McCarthy at East Dry River on May 16, 2006.
In the same case, Justice Archie quashed the death sentence of Ijah Braithwaite and ordered a retrial.
