Two Iraqi army generals, Ossama Hassan al-Yawer, brother of a former finance minister, and Taleb al-Saadun, a senior military official of the Baath party, were executed. Saadun was executed allegedly for angering President Saddam Hussein by expressing regret that he had ever participated in the 1968 revolution. "If I had known that the revolution would lead us to this situation, I would not have taken part," he said.
