A San Bernardino jury sentenced John Wayne Thomson to death. Thomson, 53, White, was convicted of first-degree murder in October for the death of Charles Hedlund, 55, who was fatally stabbed after he stopped on the side of a road to help Thomson in July 2006. Thomson is also suspected of murdering Lori Hamm, 36, in July 2006 and was charged in connection with two other 2006 homicides in Washington, which occurred within a month of Hedlund’s death.
