Zacarias Moussaoui was brought to the federal court where he will face charges of taking part in the conspiracy to attack New York City and Washington. Moussaoui said nothing during a brief hearing at the U.S. Courthouse here. He refused to stand as a magistrate summarized the 6 conspiracy charges against him and continued staring ahead as Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Spencer said that 4 of the charges carry the death penalty. He will be arraigned here on the charges Jan. 2. Usually, defendants are required to stand when addressed by a judge. Moussaoui stayed seated even after a deputy marshal poked him in the shoulder. In a hearing in New York last week, Moussaoui also refused to stand when a judge entered the courtroom.
