17 years ago, an Indian River County jury convicted Harold Lee Harvey of premeditated murder and voted 11 to 1 to impose the death penalty. In Tallahassee the Florida Supreme Court overturned that conviction because Harvey had ineffective assistance of counsel during the guilt phase of his trial in 1985. Harvey, 40, was found guilty of gunning down William and Ruby Boyd during a robbery in February 1985.
