A 24-year-old man was sentenced to death by a High Court in Malaysia after he was found guilty of murdering a Felda settler. Abdul Aziz Mohamed Shariff, who worked as a honey collector, looked sad but remained calm when Justice Datuk Hashim Yusoff announced the sentence.
The judge said Abdul Aziz had taken a parang with him when he went to the settler's house on the night of the incident. Therefore, the court could not accept his statement that he did not have any malicious intention against the settler at the time, he said.
Abdul Aziz was charged with murdering K.Balakrishnan, 40, at the house in Felda Palong 11, Geddes Estate, Gemas on April 7, 2000.
