A court in northeast China sentenced three people to death for defrauding 6,400 people through investment schemes, state media said. The case was the biggest fraud case seen in Liaoning province's Panjin city in recent years, according to the LiaoShen Evening Post. Other than the three, another suspect was given a death sentence with a two-year reprieve, while four others received prison sentences, the report said. The gang is accused of cheating people of a total of 398 mln yuan in the investment scams they operated up until March 2002.
