A court in northern Kazakhstan has sentenced a 29-year-old man, Oleg Murayenko, to death by firing squad after finding him guilty of murdering six young women in Petropavlovsk between March and November 2000. He was also found guilty of beating up inmates in the prison where he had been held, one of whom died from the injuries he sustained.
