A court sentenced to death a Bangladeshi mother who murdered her two children in an apparent human sacrifice.
The woman identified as Shibani Rani Mahato killed her five-year- old son and seven-year-old daughter in November 2000 and then went to pray at a temple. Her lawyer told a court in the north-western Sirajganj district that she "sacrificed" her children after a dream in which she had been ordered by God to carry out the killings.
