A defendant took 21 court staff hostage in the building of the Supreme Court of Tajikistan. Murod Bozorov was sentenced to death after being charged with a number of murders and robberies. After the sentence was passed, Murod Bozorov, who during the hearing was in a special cage, said he wanted to go to the rest room and managed to disarm his guards and seize an assault rifle. Having taken 21 people hostage, the criminal demanded that the charges against him be dropped. Law-enforcement officers managed to persuade him to release the hostages and give up the gun. Bozorov was then arrested with new criminal proceedings instituted against him on charges of taking hostages.
