Nazirmad Qurbonov, a contract serviceman in the town of Chkalovsk (Leninobod Region), and of the Khujand airport guard, was sentenced to death by the Tajikistan Supreme Court. He was found guilty of hooliganism, breach of public order, attempt on one's life and the murder of a traffic policeman. The investigation established that on December 29th 1999 Qurbonov abandoned his post without permission, got drunk and started shooting in a public place.
