A division bench of Lahore High Court accepted the appeals of two convicts Omar Hayat and Muhammad Iqbal and turned their death sentences into life term imprisonment. The two were part of a trio convicted of the 29 September 1993 murder of former Punjab Chief Minister Mian Ghulam Haider Wyne. They had originally been sentenced to death on February 8, 1994, together with their accomplice Zaman Khan, who had his appeal rejected.
