a driver who murdered his former employer and his four family members after being sacked was convicted and sentenced to death in Pakistan. Muhammad Ishaq had used a sharp-edged dagger to kill his employer and education officer Arif Yousuf, his wife, Zainab, their son, Zubair Arif, daughter in-law, Alia, and granddaughter, Reeta, in 2012. Ishaq was sacked after his employer had noticed him behave suspiciously. On February 2, 2012 he entered the house of the education officer situated in the Frere police limits, murdered the five family members and fled. He was later arrested. The judge also awarded 10 years’ imprisonment to the convict, who had taken away all ornaments and other valuables from the house after the grisly murders. The court ordered him to pay a compensation amount of Rs500,000 to the heirs of the family. It said that if the convict failed to pay the amount, he would have to face another term of six months’ imprisonment. Ishaq was awarded an additional fine of Rs200,000 for having disrespected and robbed the family. In case of default, he will spend six more months in jail.
