A group of Australians gathered beside a largely forgotten grave site in South Africa to remember one of the nation's most controversial figures, Harry "Breaker" Morant.
The occasion was the centenary of Morant's execution by a firing squad for the murder of surrendering Boer fighters during the Boer War.
Morant lies alongside his co-accused Peter Handcock in a Pretoria cemetery under a memorial with the simple inscription: "He that loseth his life shall find it."
The ceremony was attended by the Australian High Commissioner to South Africa, David Connolly.
