a High Court in Nigeria's southeastern city of Owerri sentenced Robert Ibrahim Chilaka to death by hanging for colluding with ritualists to kill his wife and sell parts of her body for 1 million naira (7,500 dollars).
"This is a typical case of man's inhumanity to man," said Justice Chioma Nwosu-Nheme as she sentenced Chilaka, 42, to death in the Imo state capital.
The judge slammed the convict as "a devil in human skin," saying he deserved no mercy.
According to the prosecution, Chilaka colluded with four men in 1998 to kill and dismember his wife, Cecelia, before dumping the body in a river in Owerri.
The four men allegedly paid 1 million naira for the parts, which they reportedly planned to take to Saudi Arabia for ritual purposes.
Chilaka was arrested by the police and charged with murder in 1999.
