A jury recommended District Judge Cliff Stricklin to impose the death sentence on 19-year-old Anthony Doyle for the January 2003 slaying of 47-year-old Hyun Mi Cho. According to trial testimony, Mr. Doyle, then 18, planned to rob Ms. Cho when he called the doughnut store where she worked and disguised his voice by pretending to be an elderly woman. When she arrived with four dozen doughnuts and breakfast tacos, Mr. Doyle demanded money and then attacked her with a baseball bat. Mr. Doyle gave a 10-page confession that detailed the attack.
