A Kalinga judge sentenced to death a man for raping and killing his neighbour after DNA tests matched the accused's sperm found on the victim.
Judge Milnar Lammawin of the Kalinga regional trial court sentenced Joel Yatar, of Rizal town, for the rape-murder of Kathlyn Uba in 1998.
Lammawin said the DNA test result confirmed that Yatar raped Uba. It was the first time that such piece of evidence was used in Kalinga, reports said.
