A man convicted of beating a man with a baseball bat has been sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole -- despite previously being sentenced to death. 37-year-old Joseph Cuevas was sentenced for killing 23-year-old Tysheem Riddick on November 13th, 1999. Jurors sentenced Cuevas to death in 2001, but the death sentence was overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The court ruled that the jury should not have heard the prosecutor's argument that the killing was the result of drug activity. Monroe County District Attorney David Christine says he did not seek a new death sentence from another jury because the victim's family wanted the case to be over.
