A man was sentenced to death for abducting 104 women and selling them as wives to unwed farmers.
Liu Jingsheng masterminded a gang who lured women with the promise of better-paying jobs and sold them for as little as £90. A court in Yulin, China, heard the women were beaten until they agreed to be sold to farmers in the nearby, wealthier province of Guangdong.
Three other men received sentences of between five and 15 years in jail for their part in the abductions, which took place between 1987 and 2000.
