A man who set off three bombs that killed six people and injured three others to seek revenge against three of his doctors had been sentenced to death, the Beijing Morning Post said.
Li Shikang, unhappy with the treatment he received for a sexually transmitted disease from three doctors in Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Chengdu, carried out the attacks just before Chinese New Year in 1999, the report said.
He put one bomb inside a lychee gift box and two inside boxes for expensive wines and had them delivered to the doctors' homes or clinics. The Chengdu doctor was not home when the bomb in the lychee box was delivered. His brother was killed when he opened the package.
The Zhuhai doctor received a bomb in a wine box at his clinic but kept it at work for several days until he had an occasion to eat out with friends. He then took the box to a restaurant and when one of the waitresses helped him open it, the bomb exploded, killing two people and injuring two others. The report did not say who was killed.
A few days later, Li sent the third bomb, inside a box for snake wine, to the Guangzhou doctor. When the doctor opened it, the bomb exploded, killing three people and injuring one. Again, the report did not identify the victims.
