A poll published in the Sunday People newspaper found that four out of five Britons want child sex offenders jailed indefinitely.
The survey questioned 1,000 people in 10 cities around the UK.
The poll also found that exactly half those interviewed supported reintroducing the death penalty for paedophiles and 61 percent supported the proposal that child sex offenders should be chemically or physically castrated.
