The United States refused to rule out executing terror warlord Osama bin Laden if he is captured alive.
US Attorney General John Ashcroft spoke out in London after Britain's Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon insisted that if UK troops capture bin Laden, he would not be handed over to the Americans if he faced the death penalty.
Ashcroft said: "It is clear the United States has laws, the violation of which provides death eligibility in terms of the sentencing."
