A quarry worker was sentenced to death by the High Court in Ipoh, Malaysia, for the murder of a Bangladeshi petrol pump attendant.
In passing sentence, Justice Datuk Abdull Hamid Embong said the prosecution had proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Mohd Nasri Radhuan, 22, had murdered Bangladeshi petrol kiosk worker Chandra Dah Lap Mohan, 29, at the Esso petrol station on Jalan Besar in Gopeng on January 19, 1999.
Hamid also said he rejected Nasri's alibi that he was staying at home and had lent his motorcycle and helmet to another friend. Nasri appeared stunned by the sentence. Members of his family who were in the gallery broke down as they hugged him.
