A special tribunal convicted and sentenced 5 persons to death and 7 persons to suffer imprisonment for life with a fine of Tk 5000 each, in default to undergo another one year RI for killing a 16-year-old girl after rape.
The convicts under death sentence are Abdur Razzaque, Alal Uddin, Abdur Rab, Abdur Rahman and Abdul Mannan of village Hapania. Prosecution story in brief is that on the night of April 1, 1995 the accused persons kidnapped Helena (16), daughter of Rushtum Ali. They took her to a lonely place and killed her after committing rape by turns. Her body was cut into four pieces.
District and Sessions Judge, AKM Ishtiaque Hossain after examining witnesses and relevant documents found the accused persons guilty and announced the judgement.
