A special tribunal in Jhenidah, Bangladesh, sentenced three people to death for violating a minor girl in an attack that led to her death.
According to the prosecution, Selim Mondol, Oltu Mondol and Rafiz Mondol, from Khalishakundu village in Harinakundu upazila, picked up Shila,12, from her uncle's house and raped her in a betel leaf garden on February 16, 2000.
They then gouged her eyes out and abandoned her in a serious condition. She was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital where she died a few days later.
