A Speedy Trail Tribunal in Bangladesh convicted three young men, sentencing Sumon, 20, to death and handing life terms to two others for rape case. It was alleged by the prosecution that on March 3, 2002, the victim, Fahima Akhter, 17, had been abducted by the accused while she was shopping at Lalkuthi in the city's Mirpur area. After being raped the victim, out of shame, committed suicide by hanging herself.
