A Speedy Trail Tribunal in Sylhet, Bangladesh, sentenced to death Sujan Mia and Jasim Uddin, after convicting them of murdering Dr. Aftab Hossain. Of the convicts, Mia, 26, was present in court while Uddin, 25, was in hiding. According to the prosecution, Sujan and Jasim called out Dr. Aftab Hossain on the night of September 14, 2002, making him think that there was a patient to attend to. They then allegedly tortured and killed Dr. Aftab by hanging They also took away his motor cycle, mobile phone and money. The following day his body was found with rope tied around the neck. His hands, head and legs bore the marks of torture.
