A Tangerang District Court sentenced an Angolan national to death for drug trafficking. Twenty-eight-year-old Thomas Daniel was put on trial for smuggling 1.125 kilograms of heroin, in 64 capsules concealed in his stomach, into the country. He was arrested at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on January 22. The death penalty came as a shock to Daniel as the prosecutor had only demanded 15-year imprisonment and a Rp 5 million fine.
