A total of 365,285 candidates, including 21 prisoners, will sit the 2001's Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) on November14 and 15, according to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
Twenty-one prisoners, all male, will sit the exams at Upper Prisons Luzira.
The assistant Commissioner of Prisons in charge of Welfare, Daudi Aliobe, said that although the candidates are serving sentences, they would be allowed to sit PLE.
"Even those condemned to death are entitled to basic human rights," he said, adding that this will be the second batch of inmates in Luzira to sit for examinations since UNEB opened a centre at the prison in 2000.
