The daily newspaper Waspada reported the discovery of the bodies of five civilians in North Aceh district, three or possibly four of them from Uteuen Koet village in Muara Dua subdistrict. One of the victims was reportedly an 11-year-old boy.
The version of the story from the Jakarta-based daily Kompas mentioned that local villagers had stated that four of the dead men had previously been taken away by "armed men using a military truck," implying that the victims had been executed by the armed forces rather than the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) separatists.
