A Vietnamese man, Nong Quoc Luong, 25, convicted of murdering a friend to steal his motorcycle was blindfolded, tied to a stake and executed by firing squad in Hanoi. Luong had been sentenced to death in 2001 for fatally stabbing a friend, Le Anh Cuong, in a hotel in Gia Lam district. It was alleged that Luong lured the victim to the hotel to find a prostitute then killed him to steal his motorcycle.
