A Washoe County jury sentenced Robert McConnell, 31, to death for the murder of Brian Pierce, his former girlfriend's fiancé. McConnell pleaded guilty May 30 to fatally shooting Pierce, 25, on Aug. 7, 2002. Judge Kosach set Sept. 9 for a formal sentencing hearing.
