A young Iranian man, identified only as Arash, was sentenced to death for murdering a young woman, identified as Mamak, who he had met over the Internet but who rejected his proposals of marriage. They had reportedly met three times over the Internet - a common meeting place for many young Iranians. He allegedly asked to marry her, but after Mamak's family refused to support the marriage he decided to kill her. Arash, a divorcee with a daughter of his own, then stabbed her and attempted to kill himself, AFP reported. Reports said the Iranian Supreme Court upheld his sentence, adding that he would be executed shortly.
