Adnan Buyung Nasution, noted Indonesian lawyer and human rights campaigner, said the death penalty for drug smugglers was acceptable on account of the bad impact their acts had on people of all ages. "The destruction in people's lives caused by the addictive drugs is so huge. So, it is reasonable if the drug smugglers get the heaviest legal sanction, including the death penalty," Nasution said. Nasution said that human rights could not be used as a basis for hampering the administration of the death sentence to drug traffickers.
