AFGHAN DAILY URGES GOVERNMENT TO PUNISH CRIMINALS ACCORDING TO SHARI'AH

in an editorial, the independent Afghan newspaper Cheragh urged the government to punish criminals according to Shari’ah law. “Five murderers are supposed to be executed in [southern] Zabol Province because for killing 10 people, including three religious scholars, and injured six others in the Shahjoy District. If the president approves the verdict, he will take a major step in ensuring security and safety in society, which is one of his important duties.” The editorial continued: “Considering their Shari'ah and other national laws, governments all over the world are responsible for ensuring security, justice, safety of people's wealth and their family members. For doing so, it receives obligatory taxes and other privileges from the people. Whenever a government neglects its major responsibility, it will allow the miscreants to freely carry out any sinister activity and encourages them to commit crimes. We warn the government that if miscreants and professional murderers are not treated in accordance with the Shari'ah law, investors will leave the country, other categories of society will keep distance from the government and seek asylum in other countries. So, that is when the government will face a legitimacy crisis.”
