Akmal Saidov, the director of the National Human Rights Centre of Uzbekistan, said that those sentenced to death are under very strict guard and are isolated from other inmates and do not enjoy the same prison conditions as other prisoners, but they can receive legal aid and have unlimited access to their lawyers; they can receive and send an unrestricted number of letters, and are allowed short visits by family members and religious representatives.
