Ali Mohammed Al Hambousi Al Shehi was sentenced to death and his nephew to life imprisonment for the fatal stabbing of a man over a land dispute. Due to the inability to identify the exact cause of death the courts ruling was eventually based on the testimony of several eye witnesses. The official presiding the court said the death sentence would not be carried out until the victim's offspring reached adulthood. The victim had a seven-year-old son, Ahmed, and a daughter, Aisha, 10. The convicted men will remain in prison until the children reach the legal age to request capital punishment or claim blood money.
