James T. Fisher Jr., 41, was convicted of 1st-degree murder in 1983 and sent to death row until his case was overturned March 12, 2002, when he was granted a new trial. He was found guilty in the retrial last week. Fisher was convicted of killing Terry Gene Neal in 1982.
In 2002, the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 3-0 Fisher deserved a retrial because judges concluded his lawyer was "grossly inept," and "sabotaged his client's defense."
Formal sentencing for Fisher is scheduled for May 15.
