An Orange County jury recommended today that 21-year-old Dane Abdool receive the death penalty

An Orange County jury recommended today that 21-year-old Dane Abdool receive the death penalty for killing his ex-girlfriend by setting her on fire. The jury voted 10 to 2. The same jury found Abdool guilty of first-degree murder last week for the Feb. 25, 2006 death of 17-year-old Amelia Sookdeo. He was arrested after police say he admitted to killing Sookdeo. He told police the two got into an argument because he thought she was pregnant. Police say a preliminary investigation revealed no evidence of a pregnancy.
